Quest- at S.E.A.L. Elgin & S.E.A.L. Romeoville

Students enrolled in the S.E.A.L. Quest program require varying levels of support to fully access the program’s academic instruction and incentive systems due to identified learning, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Direct support services are provided throughout the school day and include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervision and support during transitions from transportation into the building, from the designated arrival area to the student’s assigned classroom, and during dismissal transitions back to transportation

  • Instructional support during all life-skills class periods within a self-contained classroom setting

  • Physical prompting and guidance during Expressive Therapy groups (including Art Therapy, Music Therapy, and Recreational Therapy), as appropriate

  • Support during behavioral crises and supervision when a student requires removal from the classroom, which may occur in designated office spaces, in accordance with school safety policies

Through these supports, students are guided in safely navigating their school day and accessing instructional and therapeutic programming. The Quest program focuses on the development of individualized success, independence, and functional skill acquisition.

Quest staff develops IEP goals in collaboration with parents/guardians and students’ home school districts. The program utilizes a data-based system for ongoing evaluation and objective documentation of student progress and program effectiveness.

Communication, sensory, and behavioral support systems are critical components of the structured learning environments within the Quest program. Instruction includes a combination of functional academics, daily living skills, and pre-vocational programming, individualized based on each student’s needs.

The Quest program does not rely on a single instructional methodology. Instead, a multi-modal approach is used, including structured visual learning systems, community-based instruction, job box activities, and individualized programming to support social, emotional, and academic growth. S.E.A.L. also provides related services, including individual Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy, as determined by each student’s IEP.
