MATHEMATICS
ALGEBRA 1
Length: Two Semesters
CPT Code: 02052A000
Level: G
The topics covered in the Algebra 1 course include
operations, solving equations, proportions, percent
problems, polynomials, graphing lines, writing linear
equations, system of equations, inequalities,
factoring, rational expressions, functions, quadratics,
probabilities, and statistics.
FUNDAMENTALS OF ALGEBRA
Length: Two Semesters
CPT Code: 02058A000
Level: R
Fundamentals of Algebra is a course designed to
give students the opportunity to strengthen their
algebraic skills. Topics covered my include, but are
not limited to order of operations, solving equations,
proportions and percentages, exponents, factoring,
functions, fractions, graphing, decimals, integers
and basic geometry concepts.
ALGEBRA 2 & TRIGONOMETRY
Length: Two Semesters
CPT Code: 02106A000
Level: G
The topics covered in Algebra 2 and Trigonometry
include the language of Algebra, variations and
graphs, linear relations, matrices, logarithms, linear
combination methods, substitution method, quadratic
equations, functions, powers, exponents,
polynomials, and trigonometry. The graphing
calculator will be used extensively.
FUNDAMENTALS OF GEOMETRY
Length: Two Semesters
CPT Code: 02075A000
Level: R
Many of the topics covered in this course are similar
to those covered in Geometry, as described below.
There will be less emphasis on formal proofs. There
will also be a review of algebraic concepts that apply
to the areas being studied. Particular emphasis will
be placed on the practical aspects of geometry,
especially calculating sizes of angles, lengths of
sides, areas, volumes and applying introductory
trigonometry. This course is designed for student
who in spite of significant effort, have struggled
achieving a solid algebraic foundation.
CONSUMER MATH
Length: Two Semesters
CPT Code: 02157A000
Level: G
Consumer Math is designed for the student with
limited mathematical skills. Consumer Math provides
the student with living skills such as, but not
restricted to, banking, calculators, interest, budges,
personal income, investments, and taxes.
PRE-CALCULUS
Length: Two Semesters
CPT Code: 02110A000
Level: E
Pre-Calculus combines the study of Trigonometry,
Elementary Functions, Analytic Geometry and Math
Analysis topics as preparation for calculus. Topics
typically include the study of complex numbers;
polynomial, logarithmic, exponential, rational, right
trigonometric, and circular functions, and their
relations, inverses and graphs; trigonometric
identities and equations; solutions of right and
oblique triangles; vectors; the polar coordinate
system.
GEOMETRY
Length: Two Semesters
CPT Code: 02072A000
Level: G
The topics covered in Geometry include distance,
betweenness, lines and planes, angles and triangles,
triangular inequalities, perpendicular lines and planes,
area of polygonal regions, similarity, circles and
spheres, measures relating to circles, and solids and
their volumes. Geometry is a course designed
primarily for students who are independent learners
with a high level or reasoning ability and a particular
interest in mathematics.
MATH ESSENTIALS
Length: Multiple Semesters
CPT Code: 02002A000
Level: R
Topics include basic computation, measuring,
fractions, decimals, rational numbers, percentages,
calculations, word problems, pre-algebra and
geometry concepts, and practical applications for
math in the work place, Effort, abilities and individual
differences are a consideration in determining
grades.
